Description

We teach more than content. We teach people.

We guide them through life, help them learn from mistakes, encourage them to form new habits and reach their potential.

Middle and high school are an ideal time for students to set goals. Personal goals can be set at any time, but the start of a new calendar year is traditionally when we step back, reflect on the different aspects of our lives, and consider ways we might improve.

This lesson asks students to look at four different areas of their lives—health, academics, relationships with friends and family, and personal growth—then set goals to improve in one or more area.

To make their goals more achievable, students will then figure out how they are going to measure their success. Using a Daily Record, a Milestone Tracker, or both, students will track their progress over time. Then, after some time has passed, they will have the opportunity to reflect on their progress with a Check-In Sheet.

This was a great resource to have my students set a goal for themselves. I appreciated the tracking forms it came with. I had my students set a goal and choose which form best aligned with their goal, then every week or so for the next couple of months I would have them reflect on their progress. I will definitely use this again next year.
