Description

This lesson, activity, and practice is great for introducing Newton’s Laws! As a class, you can take notes using a document camera or using the editable Google Slideshow and discuss the topics - Newton’s 1st Law, Inertia, Newton’s 2nd Law, Newton’s 3rd Law, and Action-Reaction Forces.

Using the Domino Tower Activity students can experience Newton’s 1st law, followed by a lesson and practice problems on inertia. For Newton’s 2nd law, students will practice calculating applied force then graphing Force vs Acceleration. Finally, students will take notes regarding Newton’s 3rd Law, action-reaction forces, and normal force before practicing action-reaction force problems.

This lesson can be broken into multiple days and paired with your favorite lab activities for hands-on experiences. My favorites include Flinn’s Hanging Nail Challenge and Newton’s Laws Balloon Rocket Lab.

I have included 4 different versions of this resource for differentiation and accommodation purposes. Please see the preview for a breakdown of what each of the versions includes.
