What's Included:

  • Flowchart: This flowchart is a step-by-step guide to naming and writing formulas of ionic and covalent compounds. For my Science 9 classes, the students filled out the flowchart, then later used it as a “reference” sheet during an open- book quiz.
    • A coloured version (2 pgs chart + 2 pgs key) and a black-and-white version (2 pgs chart + 2 pgs key) are provided.

  • Practice Worksheets: Students will practice naming and writing formulas for ionic and covalent compounds.
    • There is a practice worksheet for ionic compounds with multivalent metals (1pg + 1pg key), and a practice worksheet without multivalent metals (1pg + 1pg key).
    • There is a practice worksheet for covalent compound nomenclature (1pg + 1pg key)
    • A colourful version, and a black & white version of the worksheets are provided.
    • Answer keys are included.
    • Ionic practice sheets can be used as a short quiz out of 15
