Description

These Halloween rhythm worksheets are a great way to challenge students with counting notes and rests in a variety of combinations—and then adding them together. They're a spooky activity to incorporate into your piano lessons or to use as an October music theory activity for creative music educators!

The ghosts have mixed up a bunch of notes and rests. The students' job is to figure out how many beats are on each ghost—that is, if they aren't afraid of no notes! ;)

Notes and rests included:

eighth notes

quarter notes

dotted quarter notes

half notes

dotted half notes

whole notes

eighth rests

quarter rests

half rests

whole rests

There are also two sheets with ghosts but no notes, allowing students to get creative and come up with their own beats. This is especially helpful if a student hasn't learned about eighth notes yet, as you can customize the rhythms to match where they are in their learning journey.

There are 4 pages in this resource, plus an answer key.

Extra tip! Have students clap out the rhythms on the ghosts after completing the pages.
