Description

Solving word problems with systems of linear equations can be intimidating for students, but this resource breaks down the process into easy-to-follow steps. Designed to make solving real-world problems more accessible, this product teaches students how to annotate word problems, set up systems of equations, and solve them step by step.

The resource includes clear, step-by-step instructions that guide students through the problem-solving process with a real-world example to complete together as a class. After the example, students will practice their skills with six additional problems. An answer key is provided for all problems to make grading easier.

Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms.
Analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations. Solve simple cases by inspection. For example, 3๐˜น + 2๐˜บ = 5 and 3๐˜น + 2๐˜บ = 6 have no solution because 3๐˜น + 2๐˜บ cannot simultaneously be 5 and 6.
