Description

Math Journaling is a very good way to reinforce those “oh-so- important” math skills! It let’s kiddos express their thinking in a creative way. I usually start these the second week of school! Depending on your group, you can start early or later. It’s all developmental! This journal is designed to be printed and stapled together. It will last the full month once put together. Also, feel free to pick and choose which entries you want to do and when. I like packets that let me differentiate with the needs of my students. You may want to pick out a few easier journal entries to begin with and then more into some more complex. I offer full pages and half pages. I also suggest using these journal entries to the fullest. Have one that you needed to leave out of the monthly packet but really wanted to use it? Send it home for homework or have it for math stations or morning work. Have a entry that the kids need extra practice with? Copy it a few times and sprinkle it in packet or to use other times. Be creative and use them how you wish! We start simple and our skills grow as time goes on. GUIDED!!!!I fully believe that kindergarteners need guidance! I like to put them up on the overhead projector and do it as a group. Encourage them to show their work. Once they get more independent then they can be let loose to rule the world! Never feel bad for GUIDANCE in kindergarten!
