About the Lessons & Tasks:
During each lesson, students will work as a class to answer a math question. For some lessons, this includes counting a set of objects to determine how many objects there are with your guidance. For others, it means determining a missing number, or figuring out the order in which various objects go. During the task part of the lesson, students will work individually, in pairs, or in small groups to apply the same problem and record their thinking.

Themes:

  • Lesson 1 - Forest Friends Fix-Up: Students "visit" areas of a forest (there are 5 total) where forest "friends" have labeled various fall objects in numerical order. The various areas will have missing numbers. Students have to determine which numbers are missing and fill those in.
  • Lesson 2 - Thanksgiving Parade: Students will count and organize the parade marchers for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. They'll count to determine how many and use ten frames to help organize their counting. Finally, they'll compare the groups of parade marchers for each float (there are 5 total floats).
  • Lesson 3 - Thanksgiving Meal Plan: Students will use their understanding of positional words and/or number order to create Thanksgiving meal plans, record the plans, and explain their thinking. They'll do this several times; at least once as a class with teacher direction and again either in pairs or individually.

I love all your resources and I just couldn't pass up this one. I am struggling with math stations and I needed something to engage the students while I work with small groups. I have never been disappointed with your resources.
