Description

Shake and Spill is a popular activity to teach students how to decompose a number. This version includes using number bonds to model addition number sentences.

Save 30% when you buy Decomposing Numbers: The Bundle.

All you need are red/yellow counters (or any two-colored counters), a cup, and this recording sheet, and you are all set to go!

Students shake a set number of counters in the cut and spill them. Students write and color each combination after they "spill" it.

You can use these recording sheets to show how to add the numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Students can play this game individually or with a partner.

There are four versions:

  1. number sentence
  2. equation with the equal sign at the end (5+5 =10)
  3. equation with the equal sign at the beginning (10= 5+5)
  4. Digital Google Slides Version Included!

Thank you! I'm sorry I tried to reach out, but every time I did I would come to a page that said "unable to load". I have changed my review. This is exactly what I needed and will be perfect for my Kinder students.
