How Do I Use the Doodle Notebook?

All of the pages were created to be glued straight into your students Math Notebooks or to be stapled together as a booklet. This way students can take notes, practice problems, and play a game all in one place.

The Doodle Notebook allows my students the opportunity to engage themselves in what they’re learning. It allows each student to take the specific notes needed but also allows my students to include their own understanding of Number Form into their notes. In addition, I wanted to added practice pages and activities into each booklet so that everything could be in one place to create a smoother math lesson.

If your students already know the content, you can use these doodle notebooks as a review in centers or when a substitute is in the room!

Students can color and doodle as much or as little as you choose!

Tell Me More About Doodle Notebooks:

I created Doodle Notebooks after reading Cornell’s study on how doodling can improve focus, memory, and learning. They are designed to use both hemispheres of the brain by incorporating creativity and writing/reasoning into one activity. They help students to remain relaxed and focused while learning new math content. This type of product provides you with the opportunity to meet the needs of every student in your class. Students can doodle as much or as little as they want (or you want them to!) With 65% of the population estimated to be visual learners, doodle notebooks are great resources to add to the classroom.

Doodle notebooks are essentially structured, graphic organizers that implement drawing and coloring. When completing the doodle pages, students are introduced to new information, and practicing new skills in ways that help with memory retention. As students get older they will be able to create their own doodle notes however I believe it is best for younger grades to have a template with a fill in the blank setting and images that are already connected to the unit. There is no right or wrong way to complete doodle notes!

Try out this new and fun ‘brain approved’ note taking activity today and have your students get excited to Doodle, Practice & Play!
