Number Line Fractions
Share

Description

Use this sheet to model how to partition a number line into fractions. Students split the box (1 whole) into a fraction using vertical lines. The lines are then extended to split the number line below the box. One large box and one number line per page. Laminate and use with dry erase markers.

Extensions:

*Assign different fractions to group members for size comparison.

*Line up more than one sheet to illustrate a "more than 1" fraction.

*Locate fractions on a number line. For example, split the box and number line into fifths and have students circle 3/5, 5/5, 1/5, etc.
