Description

Embark on a magical adventure with this 4th Grade Number and Shape Patterns Math Escape Room! In this engaging printable and digital resource, students will practice identifying, completing, and applying number and shape patterns as they work to rescue a dragon from an evil king. Students generate number and shape patterns using a given rule and identify features of the pattern that are not directly stated in the rule. Custom videos set the stage and guide students through each challenge, creating an immersive and interactive learning experience.

"A terrible king has sent a rider to find me. I need your help. You must beat the rider to save me. Only magic folk can reveal the path. You must find the way and defeat the rider before it’s too late!"

🐉 To rescue the dragon, students must complete four exciting challenges. Each challenge includes six skill-focused math problems that students must solve to continue their quest. With each correct answer, students reveal part of a secret code. But beware—incorrect answers reveal incorrect code words! Students can use the codes as clues to find and fix mistakes. Once all answers are correct, they collect an essential item to help them move closer to defeating the rider and rescuing the dragon.

For math, I always give my students a choice board of activities to complete during our workshop time. I included this escape room on the choice board and almost my whole class chose to complete it! It was very engaging and fun way to have them practice the skill we have been learning. I definitely recommend this resource.

Generate a number or shape pattern that follows a given rule. Identify apparent features of the pattern that were not explicit in the rule itself. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 1, generate terms in the resulting sequence and observe that the terms appear to alternate between odd and even numbers. Explain informally why the numbers will continue to alternate in this way.
