Description
This task allows students to look for numbers everywhere. They use their device (chromebook perhaps) to roam the school and school grounds looking for numbers. They need to find 5 examples and take a picture to add to their provided Google Slides template. (working in pairs is an option)
- Would make a great homework assignment too (numbers at your house!)
One they have accumulated their 5 numbers (I allow a 20 minute time limit), the pictures are uploaded to their Google Slides template where they will now work with the numbers.
Students will explore each number individually, telling us 5 "things" about each number.
- Is it odd or even?
- Divisible by 3?
- What if I multiply it by 100? 1000?
- Is it a prime number?
- What are its factors?
- Is it a fraction? a percent?
- Round it up! Round it down!
- So many opportunities to explore!
The Google Slides you purchase here have instructions and an example slide, and 5 slides ready to go for your students to fill in. Please feel free to tweak, change, add, and/or subtract from your copy to meet the needs of your students and your curriculum. Easy to share through Google Classroom.
(our first unit every September in 7th grade is "Number Sense." I use it as a review activity at the end of the unit)
GREAT FOR DISTANCE LEARNING!
