Description

This number sense performance task can be completed individually or as a group.

Students must determine which location is best for this year's 7th grade field trip.

There are 4 parts to the task:

1. Determining Necessary Information - Students must read the task and identify information that will be needed to solve the problem given.

2. The Facts - More information is given and students will circle needed information and cross out unnecessary facts.

3. The Solution - Students now use all the needed information to solve.

4. The Reflection - Students write a paragraph justifying their solution.

Task is appropriate for 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade and very much focuses on number sense and strengthening our mathematical practices
