This open-ended activity is designed for kindergarten and first-grade students to enhance their number sense. It allows you to assign a specific number for your students to focus on. Simply write the desired number on the sheet before photocopying a set for the class. Students will engage with numbers 1-20, and differentiation is straightforward as you input the number yourself, making this resource useful throughout the year. The activity includes 10 pages, each featuring a unique theme such as bees, ants, butterflies, frogs, turtles, fish, spiders, and apples.

Students practice the following math skills:

  • My Number is
  • Write the number 3 times
  • Write the number word
  • Circle the number on the number line
  • Color the ten frame to show many
  • Draw to show your number
  • Draw tally marks to show the number

Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
