The Number Sense In-a-Click Module 4 by Tara West at Little Minds at Work offers a developmentally appropriate and thoughtfully structured approach to advancing early numeracy. This 25-day module focuses on Making and Breaking Numbers to 10, guiding students through meaningful practice with decomposing, combining, and understanding number relationships. With a strong emphasis on hands-on modeling, visual supports, and strategic repetition, students build a deep understanding of how numbers are made of parts—and how those parts can flex and change while keeping the whole.
Each lesson follows a consistent three-part structure: a Number Sense Warm-Up using the included Number Sense Mat, a Skill Introduction (I Do) with concrete modeling and guided math talk, and a Skill Application (We Do / You Do) using the Skill Application Mat. Teachers are supported with 25 detailed lesson plans, 5 rotating Number Sense Mats, 5 Skill Application Mats, and 25 coordinating student printables. Lessons are designed to be visual-first and concept-rich, using tools such as fingers, cubes, ten frames, embedded number paths, and themed counting sets to build deep number understanding.
Module 4 is flexible and ideal for whole group, small group, intervention, or independent work. It requires minimal prep—just print or project and go. No cutting is required. Simply add a dry-erase marker and a manipulative of choice, and you’re ready to teach. Whether you're reinforcing key skills or spiraling back for fluency, Module 4 brings joyful, structured, and research-aligned math instruction to life.
