This Number Sense beginning multiplication strategies and place value concepts Ice Cream Match and Stack activity was created to assist my students in the multiple ways that a number could be written and represented. Each ice cream cone (numbers 18, 24, 35, 36, 42, 54, 64, 72, 99, 100) has 7 scoops that match the digit represented on the cone.

This activity would be a great addition to your math centers or it could be used as a class activity. Try grouping your students by giving out the ice cream scoops. For example, if you are wanting your students in groups of 5, then pass out 5 scoops that represent 64 and 5 scoops that represent 36, etc. This is a great way to practice number sense in just a few minutes everyday.
