Description

Want to develop mental math strategies and thoughtful math conversations in your primary classroom? Here are over 300 Number Talk prompts to get you started! These Number Talks focus on 2 digit numbers. There's no prep and no marking! You can either display the Number Talks digitally on your whiteboard or print them out.

Here's what the bundle includes:

• How Many? Picture Models

• How Many? Tens Frames

• Does it Balance?

• How Many are Covered?

• Make it Equal

• Freebie: Number Talks Hand Signs and Sentence Starter Posters

• Teacher Tips

In this bundle you get 5 Number Talk sets. You may choose to do a Number Talk from a different set each day of the week. Or you may prefer to do focus on one set for a few days or weeks that ties in with specific concepts you are teaching in math. The sets are designed to be flexible to fit your needs. For example, I always start with “How Many: Picture Models” because it fits in with teaching patterning at the beginning of the year. Whether you have time for just one per day or several, these sets can be used in a way that works for you

To keep track of which ones you’ve done, I’ve included a tracking chart. I like to print out the tracking chart and keep it handy. I cross out each talk as I complete it so I know which ones are next. This is especially handy if you are displaying the talks digitally. If you are printing them out, I recommend printing each set on card stock, punching a hole in one corner, and attaching each set with a binder ring. It is easy to flip the last number talk you did and so you know which one is next.

Check out the Preview to take a closer look at what you get.

I hope these Number Talks are just what you're looking for to promote thinking and conversation about numbers!

My students and I love these number talks. I show one on the Smart Board each day to start off our math lesson. We are able to practice our Math Talk at the same time. My students are very engaged and excited to share their thinking. Thank you.

Overall good product, but I wish that a few things would be a bit different. I wish that how many are covered had more variety than just a 100 chart. I also wish make it equal had more options than just base 10 blocks to extend their thinking farther than base 10.
