  • Cut up and place the cards in a box or on the floor somewhere other than where the students are working.
  • The students run to the box and fetch a card, then bring it back to where they work.

There are a lot of ways to use these cards, using some or all of them:

  1. Have the students sort them in the right order.
  2. Practice what the numbers are called. 2 student work together and take turns running.
  3. The students fetch 2 cards, write mats problems in their book. Addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.
  4. If you are in the gym or out in an open area, you can arrange a competition. The students can be divided into teams and retrieve items based on different categories. For example, they can collect items by color, some can pick numbers that end in 0, others can pick whole hundreds, as long as all teams collect the same number of cards.
