Description

Joining, separating, rest unknown, all the word problem types are tricky. With this printable, no prep resource students will be engaged in problem solving with all problem types. It makes for an easy and engaging math station or math center that students will love because they're building their own unique problems.

This resource is very similar to a mad-lib but with blanks for numbers instead of words.

THIS IS VOLUME ONE: 2-DIGIT NUMBERS ADDITION/SUBTRACTION AND SINGLE DIGIT MULTIPLICATION/DIVISION ONLY

Content:

Five fill-in-the-blank stories, 2 pages each

Half sheets for page 1 - the page where students fill in numbers based on criteria given

Full sheets for page 2 - the stories where students will plug in the numbers from page 1 - this page includes large space after each step of a problem for students to solve and show their reasoning.

I'm looking forward to using this resource for my 4th graders in the future. They are currently too fixated on what the numbers should be, so I need to find a better way of preparing them for these kinds of questions first.

i found this resource more challenging to use than i had originally anticipated - my studentts have mild intellectual impairments which makes it challenging for them to think abstractly

What a great resource! This provided additional support as my students work from the concrete step to representational step in their learning process, while supporting their development of analyzing the problem.

This is a great resource for my gifted 1st graders. It is really stretching their minds and forcing them to think through word problems.
