Description
Struggling to find VPC Unit 1 Personal Numeracy and life skills math curriculum resources for high school transition? These real world maths focused worksheets cover position, direction, location, along with key problem solving and basic numeracy skills. The personal numeracy toolkit is a full unit for life skills maths which suits high school students in 10th to 12 grade with special educational needs.
The Numeracy Unit 1 Toolkit is a print and go PDF book designed to meet the specific learning needs of high school transition students who are learning about maps, directions, position, working with numbers and systematics. Many high school students with additional learning needs prefer easy reading life skills math worksheets with simplified text with modified activities and tasks that are achievable and success focused. They enjoy age appropriate tasks that are suitable for their age and stage of development, where the focus is on moving towards independence at home, school and in the community.
Although sometimes transition, vocational and pathways students have a lower level of skill and knowledge in numeracy, they generally don't enjoy activities which are designed for early primary aged students. Instead, they often prefer modified activities based on the things that most teens enjoy - planning their own days out, spending time with friends, learning about their own community and building independent travel skills.
What's inside?
The personal numeracy and life skills maths toolkit includes over 70 pages of content and information including:
Skill builder - to encourage independent learning, core skills, adult learning focus and goal setting.
Location - to develop key skills in working with the language of position, orientation and direction, and to encourage independence in the local community while participating in excursions, daily living and community activities
Working with numbers and systematics - to develop skills in working with number and process, so students can use a range of tools to manage simple tasks including shopping, using recipes, working with tables, graphs and charts, recording and communicating ideas about data and building independence in designing learning experiences that are personally relevant and useful.
Reflections - to support students in reflecting on their successes, setting new goals for the future and recording information about their own learning.
The toolkit is aligned with the requirements of VPC Unit 1 Module 1, and is a downloadable, printable PDF book so you can print and go.
