Description

This is a numerical patterns digital interactive notebook is for 5th graders and includes instruction & graphic organizers for important math concepts, but also includes practice problems and warm ups. I created this resource to be used with the Launch, Explore, Discuss teaching model (I explain it in depth in the resource but the short version is it allows students to explore & learn a concept on their own first before teacher instruction) but this resource can be used with any other teaching model.

This resource includes...

☆Digital Notebook for Students

  • 5 Note taking Pages/Graphic Organizers
  • 5 Warm Up Tasks
  • 39 Practice problems

☆Detailed instructions on ways to implement in the classroom

☆ Extra "blank pages" that can be used for students to show their work

☆A rubric for grading

☆Answer Key

Covers the following topics...

☆ Find the Rule

☆ Find & Finish the Rule

☆ Comparing Rules

☆ Graphing Patterns

☆ Real World Problems

Use this to teach new concepts, as homework or in your math centers. There is no wrong way to use this resources!

When it comes to NC Standards in math and science this store is the first place I look for ANYTHING! Plan, Teach, Grade, Repeat's resources are engaging, well researched, and generally advise best practices in education. I split the notes into daily google slides for my students and they are able to keep-up with them better that way. I still use the rubric given when grading. It also helps me to keep track of which students were absent and which students need to make-up notes.

Generate two numerical patterns using two given rules. Identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms. Form ordered pairs consisting of corresponding terms from the two patterns, and graph the ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 0, and given the rule “Add 6” and the starting number 0, generate terms in the resulting sequences, and observe that the terms in one sequence are twice the corresponding terms in the other sequence. Explain informally why this is so.
Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., 𝘹-axis and 𝘹-coordinate, 𝘺-axis and 𝘺-coordinate).
Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
