Observation and Inference Game

Students love playing this game that is designed to help them improve their observation and inference skills. For this game, students are provided images that they write detailed observations of (two words that they may not use are also given). Students write the observations then switch with their partner who writes an inference based off of the observations. Students cannot see the images when writing the inferences. After writing the inferences, students share the images. After sharing the images, students reflect on how the observations could have been better.

This was a good resource, but not as engaging as I had hoped. The kids participated, but they didn't ask for more. Stick figure images were the best at revealing misunderstandings; I will rework the assignment for next year.
