Description
Observations and Inferences Cookie Lab
This fun and engaging activity helps students to develop a solid foundation for making observations and then how to write an inference based off of their evidence (data).
There are 3 versions to this activity.
Version 1 – Students make observations using their senses (collect data), write a detailed observation about a cookie and then write an inference based off of their evidence.
Version 2 – Students make observations using their senses (collect data), are then given hand lenses, rulers and triple beam balances or digital scales to make additional observations. Finally, they write a detailed observation (using data collected) and make an inference about their cookie.
Version 3 - Students make observations using their senses (collect data), are then given hand lenses, rulers and triple beam balances or digital scales to make additional observations. Students then make both a qualitative and quantitative observation. Finally, students make an inference about their cookies.
