During the task, students will then work individually, in pairs, or in small groups to count another set of objects and record those counted. For 2 of the 3 lessons, students will compare sets either as a class or with a partner.
Themes:
- Lesson 1 - The Pumpkin Patch: Students "visit" areas of a pumpkin patch (there are 6 total) to determine how many objects there are in that area.
- Lesson 2 - Bats in a Cave: Students explore "bat caves" to determine how many bats live there. The class compares the amounts of bats in each cave.
- Lesson 3 - Trick or Treat: Students go "trick or treating" around a "neighborhood". They count their total amount of candy and then compare amounts with a partner.
