Description

This handout/lesson outlines a puppet project for your students.

Directions for your students:

(TEACHERS MAY MODIFY THIS SCRIPTED LESSON TO FIT THEIR UNIT)

Directions

For this project, you (students) will work in groups to create and perform your own puppet play of Oedipus. Choose your group members wisely.

Decide which portion of the play you will perform.

You do not need to incorporate all of the scenes into your project. You may focus on a single scene or a variety of scenes. You may use flashbacks to explain events in the past. You may also use a narrator, reporter, host, etc. to quickly “sum up” previous events that occurred before the opening of your scene.

As a group, write your own original script. Be creative (Wild West Oedipus, Star Wars Oedipus, Finding Dory Oedipus, Oprah Interviews Oedipus, etc.), but also choose something that is appropriate. Your script must be at least 2 full pages typed.

The directions guide students with Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and a final Day 4 of tasks towards a successful and entertaining puppet show!
