This product was created to help students write one-step equations from word problems that are based on a single math operation (either addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division).

For each problem, the problem is stated and it asks for an equation to be written and solved. A graphic organizer is given that provides space for the first number, the operation, the second number and a variable to represent the unknown (the answer).

The student is reminded to check that the answer makes sense.

This product includes three 2-page worksheets. The first worksheet has easy problems that are solved by multiplication or division. This sheet is available to ease students into the process of writing the equations.

The second worksheet deals with one-step equations using addition or subtraction (7 problems). The third worksheet deals with one-step equations using multiplication or division (7 problems). A worked-out example is given on each worksheet.
