4 Fun Activities in 1 product with options for in-person or online teaching!
Please be sure first make a copy of this slideshow first, then delete the slides you WON’T use for the particular activity you choose!
1. As an In-Person scavenger hunt! (Slides 19 - 32):
Print out slides 19 - 32. Mix them up and hang them around your learning space. Students will need to write and solve the problems on paper or a whiteboard. Make sure students understand that the answer ON THAT PAGE is not the correct answer. Make sure they understand that the next page’s answer IS NOT THE ANSWER TO THE PREVIOUS PROBLEM! They have to “hunt” around the room to find the page with their answer. You should REALLY emphasize these two points, or at least one student will never move past the first problem.
2. As an Online Scavenger Hunt (Slides 18 - 32) - NOT in Present View:
Have students pick a problem in the slideshow, write the math problem on their paper, solve it and find the answer on a DIFFERENT SLIDE. Make sure students understand that the answer ON THAT PAGE is not the correct answer. Make sure they understand that the next page’s answer IS NOT THE ANSWER TO THE PREVIOUS PROBLEM! They have to “hunt” around the room to find the page with their answer. You should REALLY emphasize these two points, or at least one student will never move past the first problem. When they are finished solving all problems, they should be back at the first problem they did and have solved 14 problems.
3. As an Online Practice (NO HUNTING) (Slides 3 - 17) - in Present View:
Use the slides that have the answers covered up and delete the other slides. Students will go through the slides in order, then can click to the next slide to see the answer get revealed. This is better for students who are struggling a bit, because they immediately know if they have the correct answer or not.
4. As Task Cards for Individual or Small Group Student Use (Slides 18 - 32):
Print out slides 18 - 32 four to a page, so they are like small playing cards. Mix them up and give them to students to do independently or in small groups. You could do this on card stock and laminate for future use!
