This open-ended assessment allows for students to choose the method of solving and presenting a solution with which they are most comfortable. There are a variety of possible answers and the instructor should do each problems to establish some range of acceptability. The second problem can be solved by inferring additional information, and students have the opportunity to provide additional information that they feel is needed.
