Description

Introduce subtracting two digit numbers on open number lines with this animated PowerPoint.

First, we introduce how to subtract two digit numbers using hops of one.

Then, students will play Beat the Clock. The students will try to draw on their number line to find the answer before the slide is finished.

Then, students are introduced to more challenging problems where students subtract two digit numbers. Students will hop by 10s, 5s, or 1s. Then they will play Beat the Clock again.

A worksheet is provided. This worksheet can be used with the PowerPoint and can be used for repetitive practice by playing a game that can be great for math centers.
