Description
Opinion writing teaches students to express their thoughts, viewpoints and feelings on a specific topic. This short unit will layout a day by day plan to teach opinion writing.
On Day #1, students will start by reading a mentor text (suggested mentor texts in the resource), then they will decided whether they would rather celebrate their birthday or Halloween.
On Day #2, students will choose their topic whether from the provided list or one that they choose on their own.
On Day #3, students will layout their ideas.
On Day #4, students will begin to write their rough draft of their opinion essay.
On Day #5, students will write their final draft.
*teachers may take multiple days to complete each scheduled day depending on their students progress in their writing.
