This matching activity is a great way to have students practice using their knowledge about order of operations and how to use math to represent word problems. Students will match 3 cards together in sets, with a total of 6 sets. Each set will include a word problem, an expression with multiple operations, and the answer. The numbers in all word problems are the same, so student really have to focus on which operations the word problem is describing, and the order those operations need to be performed. I have my class do this activity with partners, but it could be a great small group activity or math station as well. Print an extra copy and leave it uncut to be your answer key!
