Description

This file contains everything you'll need to teach the 4th Grade Common Core ELA Standard 4L1d. Order adjectives within sentences according to conventional patterns (e.g., a small red bag rather than a red small bag). These lessons assume that students already know what adjectives and nouns are.

This unit is structured to take about 1 week of instruction.
Day #1: Teacher-led instruction through demonstration, examples, and student foldable.
Day #2: Guided practice pulling from real literature with students looking for their own examples in self-selected authentic texts.
Day #3-4: Structured Individual Practice through word sorts and a sentence building activity.
Day #5: Assessment with 10 multiple choice questions and two open-ended questions.

This file includes nearly 60 pages of materials including two presentations, a word work center for days 3 & 4, and several student printables. Detailed lesson suggestions are provided.

This file has been saved as a .zip format. Please make sure that you have appropriate software to unzip the files once you download them. All files have been saved as .pdfs inside the .zip file. Please contact me if you have questions.

This is a great resource to help with ordering adjectives. My students really enjoyed looking in the books they are reading for examples as well.

STudent enjoyed the different activities. I have to teach this to the principal, she didn't have a clue adjectives need to follow a certain order in a sentence.
