Description
In this product, you will receive 24 cards with values written from greatest to least, least to greatest, or in no order. The values go out to the tenths and hundredths places. You will also receive answer sheets for students and an answer key.
Students might see how many numbers there are, and use that to determine the order that they should place the values rather than looking at what place those digits are in to determine value. With this activity, those misconceptions will become extremely apparent.
Uses:
- Three corners activity- pass out one card to each student. Students will look at the card and determine if the values are going greatest to least, least to greatest, or have no order. You will deem a corner of the room for each category (greatest to least, least to greatest, and have no order) and students can move around to find the corner where they fit. People in those corners will check everyone to see if their group is correct or if anyone needs to move.
- Task cards- Lay cards around the room and have students take their answer sheet around with them to fill in the blanks of what order the values are in.
- Find two friends- find two friends in the class that have the same values as you. Then determine what order they go in (one will be greatest to least, one will be least to greatest, one will be and have no order)
- Station work- have the cards be at a station and have students work to complete their answer sheet independently or together
