Outdoor education can be a great way to introduce spring. Start the new spring season off by introducing new vocabulary and taking the learning outside. Use the Spring Photo of the Day set to introduce various spring-themed vocabulary to help students build background knowledge and/or as a writing prompt. Use the Spring Eco Journal to take the learning outside.
This resource will help your students to:
- increase vocabulary
- use descriptive words in writing
- build background knowledge to support reading skills
- make connections
- promote discussion
- increase observation skills
This set is perfect for Earth Day activities!
Your students will be engaged and inspired by the new and familiar photos.
What this bundle includes:
Photo of the Day:
- Teacher information and guide
- 20 screen size real color photos of spring activities, items, and sports to
project (1 photo each day for a month or 2 photos a week for 10 weeks) - 20 student pages with the same photo and reflection questions for students to name the item in the photo, list details they know about the item, and a place to reflect on and list connections they may have.
- 1-page photo assessments that can be used pre and post-to identify items
by name. (Any other details would need to be on a separate paper or
in the case of ELL, a 1-1 conversation if possible.) - 4 writing graphic organizers: 2 with different line sizes for sentences, 1 for
drawing, and 1 for writing longer pieces.
Primary ECO Journal:
- activities to help students see, listen, and touch items which are determined
based on the place in which they are learning outside (open-ended) - focus on seeing, listening, and touching
- focus on perspective and drawing as well as writing
- relating colors to things in nature
- using descriptive words
- using descriptive words living and non-living
