We try to focus on specific types of STEM challenges each month. One of our favorites is PARACHUTES.
This pack includes: (most come in color and in black and white)
- vocabulary cards for 18 words
- posters
- notebook pages
- parachute diagram (labeled and unlabeled)
- informational sheets
- PARACHUTES letters for the bulletin board title
We keep STEM notebooks in spiral notebooks or composition books each year as a way to keep the information we learn throughout the year and our STEM challenge lab sheets all in one place. I copy these pages at 90% zoom so they fit into the STEM notebooks.
I laminate and display the vocabulary cards in a pocket chart on one of our bulletin boards. I print the parachute posters into 11 x 14 size at my local Walgreens or Staples. I print the large letters out on colored copy paper for the title of my bulletin board.
As students do multiple STEM challenges with parachutes, they begin to learn more about building and designing different types of parachutes. You can build these with things like coffee filters, paper, foil, straws, plastic grocery bags, and other things you can find around the classroom!
