Math Project Based Learning, Math Enrichment & Challenge

This math PBL project will have your students practicing real-world math applications while having a BLAST! This project based learning task is a great extension and enrichment activity for your early finishers. This project has students building their own Jurassic Park! Students will love getting to purchase their dinosaurs, and plan the layout of their park, and YOU will love the enriched math practice they get along the way. This is a great math project based learning (PBL) task that your students will beg to work on, and perfect for a Jurassic world themed week!

This pack would be great for enriching second graders, perfect for third graders, and even a great review for upper grades! This is perfect for an end of the year cumulative or spiral math project!

This product is DIFFERENTIATED for you and your students, and includes U.S., Australian, and Canadian versions!! It also includes both Printable & Digital Google Slides versions.

HERE ARE THE TASKS STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE:

•The Dinosaurs: Students use addition/subtraction within 1,000 to purchase dinosaurs for their park

•The Park Grounds: Students measure the different dinosaurs with an inch ruler, and use the measurements to set up and plan the layout of their park.

•Park Warden's Schedule: Students create a schedule for feeding and caring for the dinosaurs. Students will practice elapsed time.

•Park Reports: Students need to gather information about their park for a report. They use arrays, multiplication, addition, and subtraction to answer challenging questions.

•The Ticket Booth: Students help kids in the park count their money and make decisions about what tickets they can and can't afford. Students practice counting, adding, and subtracting money.

•How's Business?: Students examine data about the tickets that were sold and create a bar graph using the data. Students answer questions and make business decisions based on the data and bar graph.

Great value
The students LOVED this project - from having the option to choose and buy their own dinosaurs, to measuring them to plot out their park, they were engaged and excited the entire time. This is a lesson that can be extended to other content areas as well - writing, science, etc. It was a welcome change from the normal curriculum!
