Description
Looking for a simple and fun way to document the books that your K or 1st grade students are reading? Do you want to keep track of the days each month that your students read on? These Primary Level Reading Logs may be just what you're looking for:
What’s included:
Part 1: There is a reading log page for each month of the year (December and February have 2 choices). Seasonal graphics decorate each page and have the month’s date numbers printed on or next to them. Students will color in each date that they read on - a fun incentive for eager new readers!
Part 2: There are also book log pages for each month of the year. This is a place for students to write down the titles of the books they read (independently, or with adult assistance). The book log pages come in 3 formats. Choose the format you prefer, copy the number of pages you want to use, and staple these to the reading log page. Formats include:
1) page to list 12 book titles + authors, single-spaced lines (parent/teacher fills in)
2) page to list 5 book titles + authors, with wide handwriting guidelines (student fills in)
3) page to list 10 book titles only, with wide handwriting guidelines (student fills in)
Optional cover: For those that want to make a year-long packet out of the reading log and book log pages, there are 2 universal cover pages in color to choose from, or 1 in ink-saving black and white that students can decorate themselves.
How to use:
Classroom educators:
Use the reading logs as a place for students to record the books that you read in class and fill out the logs together. This is a great way to practice other language arts skills such as how to write a story title, how to write a book title, how to use capitalization with proper nouns when writing the authors' names, etc.
Alternatively, you can have your students use the logs for reading done at home. The reading and book log pages can be completed at home, with some assistance, for reading homework.
Home educators:
These primary level reading logs can be used at home to document reading and books read throughout the school year.
At the end of the school year, your new readers will have a sense of pride and accomplishment as they look back and see all of the reading that they did! These logs are great for school year memory-keeping and portfolios.
