Parallel City Project
Share

Description

This project is great to do after a unit on parallel lines and special angle pairs in geometry.

The project tests students' understanding of congruent and non-congruent alternate interior and exterior angles, consecutive interior and exterior angles, and corresponding angels.

Students are told where to place buildings with "clues" such as the "gas station and a restaurant at congruent alternate exterior angles".

This project allows for a lot of creativity and critical thinking!

We used this as an alternative type of end-of-unit assessment. Some students didn't really understand about the thickness of the streets and did mess things up. But overall they enjoyed it more than taking a quiz.

Great project! It really deepens students' understanding of angle pair relationships when lines are parallel vs when lines are not parallel. My students enjoyed the project!
