Teaching parallel structure is vital because it creates clear, concise, and balanced writing by presenting connected ideas with the same grammatical structure, making them easier for the reader to understand and highlighting their equal importance.

This four page handout assist students in understanding parallel structure on several levels.

The second half of this handout becomes a working exercise that engages students reading sentences that are out of balance and provide students with rewriting giving it parallel structure.
