Hi there Adrienne. I see you purchased about five minutes ago. The directions are embedded within the sheet along with the PDF. There are multiple ways to get the data needed to show email addresses/phone numbers, be it from your district data or a Google Form to collect the information. The video on the TpT page should connect you to the video. Hopefully you don’t give up on the spreadsheet too quickly. If you need assistance, feel free to ask. —Sincerely, Anthony

Hi there Happy Helpers. I recently created a new version of the Communication Log...one that runs as a Web App. It's quicker, easier to use, and runs in the browser. I have a 20% off sale starting tomorrow. Feel free to take a look: Demo: https://script.google.com/a/macros/darienps.org/s/AKfycby974WvIjWlROh66phKGT2TqNgMcpgpvOTUKdI96p4fTXYckeedfrvHla8yKK9wGTqI/exec Project Page: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Parent-Communication-Log-10043058

This tool is SUPER awesome. Quick question though, if I am adding a reason that is not connected to your pre-loaded reasons how do I get that to show up in the column on the tally sheet and student reports? If it isn't possible, no worries. Thanks again!

Very possible...and it looks like I should update this feature. Temp. solution: 1. Go to Calculator 2. Add a reason and click the button 3. Go to the Tally Sheet - in Cell F1, add the new reason...it must be typed exactly as you entered it on the Calculator Tab 4. Add the following formula in cell F2 ARRAYFORMULA(if(A2:A="","",countifs(Log!B$2:B$121,A2,Log!F$2:$F$121,F$1))) Now for the formatting... 5. click on cell E2, go to the menubar, click on Format > Conditional formatting ... ---- A sidebar opens with the conditional formatting rules...open the Color scale D2:E40731 6. Replace the E40731 to F (or last column) More formatting... 7. Click on the column F (the entire column highlights) and click the align center icon...OR ...format > align > center -----That takes care of the Tally Sheet....now for the reports... Query Functions are awesome, so get ready! ---Assuming you want a new layout. You can place it below one of the current layouts, but if the new list occupies a cell the top list needs, you'll get an error. The reason is that the query produces a dynamic list, adding to the list as the user inputs to the log. Here we go... Step 0: Go to cell B10...in the formula bar, click on B3 in the text that reads..."Where B='"&B3&"'...it's blue...then click F4 on the keyboard...B3 now looks like $B$3 --- it's fixed so that column B and row 3 will not change when we move the formula. Do the same for Log!A2:F... it should be Log!$A$2:$F Step 1: highlight cells B8:D:10, copy Step 2: put your cursor in cell B21, paste Step 3: Click on Cell B23 -- In the formula bar, change what E should equal... inside the single quote switch out compliment with the exact spelling and capitalization of the reason you added to the list. E = 'Compliment' --- switch out Compliment Alternatively, you could look for two or more items... E contains 'Academic Concern' OR E contains 'Behavioral Concern' The total time to make the edits will be about 10-15 minutes. Copy and paste my instructions into a doc and have it open side-by-side and you should be fine. Let me know how it goes.
