This digital Parent Functions Matching Activity is a great way to practice in class or for distance learning. Students will use this digital activity to match the graphs for each of the parent functions to equations and the name of equation function. There are 3 pieces for each match with a total of 15 graphs.

-- Each match will include:

  • 15 Parent Function Graphs
    • Constant
    • Linear
    • Quadratic
    • Square Root
    • Cubic
    • Cube Root
    • Rational Function
    • Inverse Squared
    • Exponential
    • Logarithmic
    • Greatest Integer/Step Function
    • Absolute Value
    • Sine
    • Cosine
    • Tangent
  • Name of Parent Function
  • Equation of Parent Function

This digital matching activity will help your students practice determine the name and equation for each parent function graph.

--There is a version included with MOVEABLE GRAPHS. This will allow you modify parent function graphs you assign for your students to know.

This activity works great for small groups, partners, or individual work. You can easily check answers using the answer key provided. You can also have student's self check their answers or have a partner check them. This is great for in person, distance, or hybrid learning!

I used this as follow-up work to their classwork. In class, students worked in class to identify the parent functions, their graphs, and their functions. This, as follow-up work, allowed me to informally assess each students' understanding of the concepts.
