Description
Looking for a fun, real-world way to assess your students’ understanding of divisibility rules, factors, multiples, LCM, and GCF? This Party Planner project is an engaging and practical rich task that gets students thinking and applying math in meaningful ways.
In this activity, students take on the role of event planner for a large school or community party. They use math to make decisions about seating, decorations, goodie bags, and food while working within a budget. The task encourages creative problem-solving and gives students a chance to see how math connects to everyday situations.
This resource works well as a summative assessment, an end-of-unit project, or an enrichment activity for students who are ready to extend their thinking. It is fully editable so you can adjust numbers, prices, or context to fit your class.
What’s Included:
- Multi-part student task with clear instructions
- Real-world scenarios for seating, balloons, goodie bags, and food
- Budgeting component that brings it all together
- Choice-based reflection questions for different competencies
- Single-point rubric for easy teacher assessment
- Worked example/exemplar to set expectations
Skills Covered:
- Divisibility rules
- Factors and multiples
- Least Common Multiple (LCM)
