Description

This is a task I created for my students to practice integer operations. I uploaded it as a word document so that you may change it to meet your needs.

In Part One: The students have to translate a note that was passed in class into grammatically correct language and then assign values to the words based on the information in the task. Finally, they have to add up the total value of the note that was passed. The answer key has the translated note, the value of each word, and the total value of the note.

In Part Two: There is another note that was taken up, but this time the students have to find the sum of each word, the sum of each sentence, and finally the product of the sentences to get a total value of the note. The answer key includes the translated note, the value of each word, the value of each sentence, and the total value of the note.

Understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values (e.g., temperature above/below zero, elevation above/below sea level, credits/debits, positive/negative electric charge); use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts, explaining the meaning of 0 in each situation.
