Description
Students love this graphing unit! This unit will give you and your students a chance to play with the pattern blocks sitting on your shelf! Students will learn how to graph and analyze data with the added bonus of reviewing shapes and colors.
Includes:
Lesson Plans
2 pages for pre and post assessments
2 sets of pattern block graph paper for individual, group and whole group graphing: color and black line
1 Common Core question page
1 Sheet of pattern block picture tiles
1 Spinner
1 Tally Chart
Questions are based off of Common Core Standards.
Represent and interpret data. My first graders know the "important graphing questions" before I even ask them now! After students finish their graph I have them get together and share their results with a partner.

Common Core Standards:
CCSS.Math.Content.1.MD.C.4
Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than in another.
CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.D.10
Draw a picture graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set with up to four categories. Solve simple put-together, take-apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph.
CCSS.Math.Content.3.MD.B.3
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step "how many more" and "how many less" problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs.

Great Resource
Met expectations
Great value
Standards-aligned
I love using this unit with my second graders when learning about graphing.
That’s great to hear, thank you!
My students loved using this resource. Thanks for making this!!
This is a great resource. My students found it very engaging.
use this every year
kids love it and so easy! thank you
That’s awesome you use it each year! Thank you!
This is exactly what I was looking for to make our time playing with pattern blocks more structured and beneficial!!
I used this resource as both an assessment for geometry and data management. It saved me a lot of time and was a good value.
I am so glad! Thank you!
My students loved these for review!
Great, easy resource to use with the class. It's nice not to have to create something and just download and use.

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
