Description
Pattern blocks provide an excellent way to introduce the basic ideas of fractions, a topic often considered to be difficult.
This unit starts by introducing simple fractions then moves on to equivalent fractions, addition and subtraction including improper fractions and mixed numbers. Finally students are introduced to multiplication and division of fractions.
Additional support is provided through the Teacher Notes and Answers.
The resource includes Extra Practice for students to make the all-important transition from the concrete (hands on) to symbolic representations.
This is Chapter 2 of five chapters covering Measurement, Fractions, Geometry, Patterns, and Transformations.
All the Pattern Block chapters as well as our other resources are available in my store at www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Math-By-Jim-At-Root-7.
Pattern Blocks are not included but a free Pattern Blocks template can be downloaded in our Free Section.
