Pattern Block: Thanksgiving

Give the students a card and pattern blocks. Have the students arrange the pattern blocks according to the picture given on each card. Students will work on spatial, visual problem solving and fine motor skills. This activity can be worked on in small groups or individual time. This activity is not just for making picture shapes but using math terminology as well. Terms: Rotate, Turn, Flip and Slide. Students can work on naming the 2D shapes of the pattern blocks as well. 2D pattern puzzles included.

Level One: Patterns and Numbers of patterns used.

Level Two: Outline Patterns and Word Numbers of patterns used.

Level Three: Outline Patterns, Silhouette Patterns, count and write number of patterns.

Visual Task Cards and Reference Cards provided.

These cards are for students that can look at the image and create without a mat. Students count and record the number of blocks used and form. Cards are four per page in color and black & white. Discussion cards provided to make comparisons in a small group.
