Description
In this pattern quest, students will take on the role of a brave detective who is trying to stop an evil villain from stealing the crown jewels of Patternopolis. The quest can be printed out and made into booklets for individual or small groups, or can be completed together as a class on an interactive whiteboard.
The lesson was developed using Smart Notebook and requires students to demonstrate their knowledge of both increasing and decreasing patterns by completing 7 challenges. The challenges cover skills such as; naming the pattern core and rule, determining pattern attributes, finding missing pattern elements, extending patterns, and identifying patterning errors. Included with the lesson is an answer key.
Students will love this engaging challenge, and will be so caught up in their quest to stop the evil villain that they won't even realize they are hard at work developing their patterning skills.
