Patterns Task Cards are a great resource for identifying, creating, and extending increasing and decreasing patterns. This resource includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are open-ended and multiple choice.

What will students review with these task cards?

With these Patterns Task Cards, students will:

• Identify and describe increasing and decreasing patterns with objects/pictures, numbers, and number lines
• Identify the missing term in an increasing or decreasing pattern
• Create and extend an increasing or decreasing pattern
• Solve problems that involve the application of input and output rules limited to addition and subtraction of whole numbers
• Explain the connection between two different representations of the same increasing or decreasing pattern

What standards are covered?

These Patterns Task Cards are specifically aligned to the Virginia Math SOLs 3.PFA.1 although they closely with most math standards related to increasing and decreasing patterns.

Is a digital version included?

This Patterns Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.

When you purchase this product, you will be given access to a link that will allow you to open the file in Google Forms. You’ll then share that file with your students.

What if I want to create my own math task cards?

Four blank task cards are included so that you can create additional questions, if needed. For these task cards, you will print the blank cards and write your questions directly on the cards.

Other Information:

I recommend printing these task cards in color and laminating so that they can easily be reused from year to year, although this is not necessary. These task cards also print and are easy to read in grayscale.
