Dr. Sigma's Life Lessons are short math warmups that involve everyday tasks that students will need to understand as they grow up and become responsible citizens. Life Lessons - Paychecks contains 16 warmup sheets for students that involve calculating gross pay, deductions and net pay for individual paychecks.. The warmups increase in difficulty. There are four warmups for each of the following levels of difficulty which build upon the difficulty of the previous levels:

- Level 1, Calculation of hourly, overtime and total gross pay for an individual paycheck. Also includes calculating total deduction and net pay amounts.

- Level 2, Includes all of the Level 1 calculations as well as the calculation of Social Security deduction.

- Level 3, Includes all of Level 2 calculations as well as the calculation of Medicare deduction.

- Level 4, Includes all of Level 3 calculations as well as the calculation of state tax deducation.

These warmups can be used for students in late elementary, middle school, high school and adult learning programs. They can be used individually as warm-ups throughout the year or as part of a personal finance unit. Lessons can be differentiated by student skill level and taught in a single lesson if desired.
