Description

Scenario: You work in the payroll department of a company. You’re computers are down and you are tasked with writing paycheck for all of your employees all on your own. You will be given a list of employees, their hourly rates and the times they worked this week. Remember if anybody works over 40 hours they get paid overtime (time and a half), also for every shift over 6 hours employees have to take a unpaid 30 minute lunch. First you will calculate the gross pay for every employee. Then once you find the gross pay you will have to calculate their net pay given that 23% of their pay will go to taxes and that some employees have other deductions from their paychecks. Finally once you find their net pay you will have to write out their paycheck since you computers are down and they can’t be printed.

Students will practice multiplying percent's, adding numbers, finding the difference between gross and net pay, writing checks, determining how many hours were worked, etc.

Met expectations
Great value
do not use the answer key. The material is very large for one project. This took my students days to complete, Each scenario was not printer friendly.

I’m sorry this didn’t meet your expectations. The listing does say this project will take about a week in class, this is how much it has always taken my students to complete. Were you printing the PDF? What part wasn’t printer friendly? I would like to fix this for future teachers.

This is a great resource! I used it with my higher education students in my payroll class to have them practice manual calculations. I gave it a 4-star rating because, while the content was helpful, the answer key contained several errors.
